KM Links Game - August week 1 results

Good morning everyone and it's been one of those weekends again - we're still fasting, only this time it's two ok's and two trickies !!!
As I still have no printer, working out the matches was a little difficult but I think I've got it sorted and the links are -
Coral Reef
Nose Dive
Super Giant [ !!! ??? ]
Oat Cake
And I'll bet you'll not be surprised to hear nobody took out the third combination - a couple were along the right track with Giant Star and Red Star, but then I think we had just about every type of giant imaginable.
And Nose Dive wasn't high on the hit list, though london_lassy was right on the money as the second entry, likewise Mrs E & ladyh later in the day.
Coral Reef and Oat Cake had their supporters, too - I must admit to underestimating the ingenuity of the Linkers when I remarked at the beginning there wasn't much selection.
Being the first week of the new contest, a Leader Board as such isn't necessary, but the scoring went like this -
ladyh was off to a flyer collecting 6 points for correctly predicting the three matches.
london_lassy, gen2, ShazzaHewit, MrsE, cpfcrosiel & seekeerz opened their accounts with 3 points, while a further 26 entries also started their tally with 1 point each.
Congratulations everyone, especially ladyh and needless to say I wish you all a good week, and hope to see you again, same time, same place, next Saturday morning, by which time I hope to be better organised [new printer, perhaps !!] and we'll do it all again !!! S

Two interesting points in today's solutions:
1. The clue for 9a was associated with coral, Saturdays 16a solution. I think we've tended to avoid any such association as unlikely to be used by the setter. Wrong!
2. Super giant and supergiant are both in normal (if uncommon) use. For our competition either would be acceptable, but what about when you send in your links with the Herculis entry?
