What would you have done in these circumstances?
Should he now have this fine withdrawn?
Last July, Khalid Mahmood was fined for pulling into a bus lane to allow an ambulance to pass in Manchester. The fine was later withdrawn by the council.
A similar incident, except in Mr Mahmood's case, although he was technically breaking the law by entering a bus lane, it was not as dangerous as going through a red light.

In the Mail example, I have been in the position of Car A when a fire engine has been approaching from behind. I moved my car in front of car C - which was in fact a police car.
I see absolutely no reason why car B moved - if anything he made it more difficult for the police car to pass.
I would think that he wasn't concentrating, saw the car move in front of him and started moving forward - then realised what was going on and stopped.

Just looking at the diagram, I am not sure why he felt he had to move at all - I wouldnt have.
So whats to discuss? Whether Mr. Lilley was unfairly fined? Possibly, because the distance he travelled over the red light seems trivial - but there seemed little reason, from the diagram, for him to have moved at all.
Is it cynical of me to suppose that the only reason you posted this non story is because of the offhand mention of a Mr. Mahmood "getting off" with a superficially similar offence a year ago? Is this you and the DM trying to allege that "ethnics" get favourable treatment yet again?

I knew it, I knew it, just as I typed this question, some small minded person with an enormous chip on their shoulder would leap in and twist this perfectly reasonable question into (the now rather wearing thin) accusations of a non-story, anti Daily Mail, anti AOG rant.
You first thought the question was worth answering seeing that you contributed to it in your first paragraph, and then went on to allege this was a non story and the DM and myself trying to allege that "ethnics" get favourable treatment yet again?
In fact I defended Mr Mahood, saying that his 'offence' was not as dangerous as Mr Lillie's 'offence'
If I wanted to voice my opinion against Mr. Mahmood "getting off" with a superficially similar offence, I would have not been afraid of saying so.
That was not my question, so either stick to the question or just do not bother.

Given your track record of postings from AOG World, I thought it a reasonable if perhaps cynical assumption to make, because of itself this is absolutely a non story, a space filler on a slow news day considered purely on its subject.
Fair enough I stand corrected and apologise for my assumptions since you claim this wasn't posted from your usual racist slant - so why do you think the Daily Mail made the comment about Mr. Mahmood? Do you think your precious DM is displaying its usual agenda?
