Anyone For "Sarah's Law"?
233 Answers
Yet another kiddie fiddler has managed to ply his evil trade and has been able to groom at least one more innocent child right under its mother's nose. He has been "severely punished" with a wet lettuce leaf and given 4 months inside. (He may well have been released by the time I've finished typing!)
It proves, does it not, that the present system is deeply flawed? Maybe the introduction of "Sarah's Law", where paedos are "named, shamed" and the address of the sewer they're presently living in is made known to the wider community, would nip such atrocities in the bud?
Or do the "bleeding hearts" win the day again by arguing that the "human rights" of the pervert are far more precious than the safety of innocent children? Woops, no, we daren't risk having vigilante patrols on the streets. No, let our kids suffer instead, eh?

When it comes to debates on the relative merits of different medical cases it is fraught with problems if it is portrayed as one gets resources at the expense of another which it seldom is.
e.g. childhood cancer versus fertility treatment, or childhood cancer versus treatment for the very old.
Regarding 'anti gay'. I think that is a very broad brush.
I would prefer not to be surrounded by gays (on the beach for example) and I do wonder sometimes if homosexuality is a mandatory requirement for becoming a tv chat show host; but I am not 'anti gay'.

The point is, partly, joeluke ...
The transexual / poorly child link is not a direct link ... and so it is a tenuous argument.
Transexuals do not cause children to suffer.
Likewise, gays cause no harm or suffering to anybody.
They are happy to keep themselves to themselves.
It is only the feelings against them that cause any angst.

LOL ... Zeuhl, you really don't want to come drinking, or sunbathing, with me then.
We drink in a lot of the gay bars in the town ...
... not out of principal, but simply because they are jolly, and we don't want to limit our choice of watering holes just because we are not part of the "in crowd".
Also, the nude section of our beach is a bit of a gay hang out ...
... (ha ha ... as I was typing "hang out" I just realised that that was quite funny!)

JJ I know!!!
I've only been to Black Rock once to top up the all-over tan and whilst I'm sure most of the people there are lovely I did find the behaviour of some of the male bathers a bit 'overt'!
Not helped by the fact it was very crowded. I prefer a bit of peace and quiet on the beach. Not something Brighton is renowned for.

How many of those, I wonder, who find the term "kiddie fiddler", do so because they are uncomfortable with a term which, basic though it may be, more or less graphically describes what these monsters get up to?
It turns my stomach just to imagine what these children go through at the hands of such vile individuals, but I believe in calling a spade a spade, rather than shilly shallying with sanitised expressions instead.
And far from trying to pretend that "Sarah's Law" would be the ultimate answer, it would be a start. It's worth knowing that, far from being a "cure all", it officially would be a government controlled operation whereby parents of young children may get access to the Sex Offenders Register to alert them to a convicted paedophile who may be living in their area.
It is not a green light to vigilante groups to roam the streets looking for, and "dealing with", convicted kiddie fiddlers. Far from it. Put it this way, if you're a parent with young kids, would you rather know in advance that a paedo had been housed in your area, or would you prefer to leave it until the Police come calling to say that your child had been defiled by someone living nearby?

JL
you expose the weakness of your case by misrepresenting the posts of others.
I am fine ///on a beach around gay men///
what I wrote was ///I would prefer not to be surrounded by gays///
Likewise I would be fine on a beach 'around' people like you.
If I was 'surrounded' by people like you I would realise my mistake and move to somewhere more upmarket.
