Once more I throw open the doors and welcome you to pop in for a chat and maybe share a tailcock or too. Her Ladyship and His Lordship are still otherwise engaged and the notion of my position is being pushed to it's utmost.
The long Gallery is currently out of bounds due to the rampant dry rot, a donations box is in the vestibule for contributions to the restoration fund. Therefore drinks and nibbles (of which there is a plethora, thanks to guidance from Mercia) are served in the Billiard room, please do not uncover the baize or I will end up paying.
Last week was very quiet so the raffle prizes are rolled over, I can however add;
A pincushion
half bottle of syrup of figs
and a bath plug. (other donations welcome)
So enjoy.

You must be getting close to having squatters rights now mamya (I spelt that very carefully) WHen do the L'ships return?
the commodores? are we having a music night?
Question Author
My squatters arrive tomorrow, complete with precious belongs as their place is being rewired.

I have one more week in charge here according to the last missive I received .

Oh tried to book the Commodores but they were at a fireworks party
You don't want me to mention 'mincing' again do you Alex?
♫ you know what sailors are.............♫
I was in the Raf ttfn not the few but the chosen few
Hello all, apologies for the late arrival.
Awful time getting here, road blocks everywhere, thought you lot had been up to your tricks again, apparently not.
I have brought a constable for the raffle.
The Commodore will indeed be here, reviewing the Fleet - the lifeboat, two tugs, a pilot boat, and doubtless a few members of the Grey Funnel Line....
didnt the grey funnel line used to be on telly with that whispering bob smith?

Evening Meg, ooh Boxy sounds very posh, must you wear a titfer?
Rainhat more like mamya, if it tips it down like it did this morning!
Hello meg - is that the artistic sort or the one with real handcuffs?
Boxy you should wear a bloater to go with your OH's kipper tie.
I knew that Alex (the cut of your gib gives it away) and being so tall - you have to duck under those clouds don't you
Hi ttfn, a bobby, not a work of art I must admit. Think he's past his use by date.
Is it true a Commodore is coming here? Just adore their white uniforms.
OMG is my gib showing excuse me while I make the essential adjustments
Question Author
Good job Mollykins is away or she would be trying to gatecrash and pretending to be older.
Not that keen on the whites meg - I mixes em up with the waiting staff - never got a drink yet off an admiral ;(
I don't think sea cadets would be allowed entrance to Dover Harbour Fireworks Night - would they?
Stand easy ALex, all is secure once more.
So what do you plan on doing with your constabule meg? Point duty?
Perhaps he could point you to another drink (or would it be your first) I'm firsty again too
Good grief ttfn, just realised I am without a beverage. As I said the constable is for the raffle, think the force were glad to see the back of him.
Why did they say to you 'may the force go with you'? Let me pour you a large one mamya is off somewhere
Question Author
Oh do help yourselves a small drama in the pantry but no harm done.

Will sit and rest for a mo with a top up.
