I can understand homosexuality, I can understand trans-gender, but I simply cannot understand why heterosexual men indulge in cross-dressing. Any thoughts that may enlighten me will be welcome.

murray.....don't bother to explain.....they will never accept it to us "ignorants."
I have to agree with Naomi here.

Don't get me wrong...people can go about dressed as carrots as far as I am concerned. But why would any man want to dress up in women's clothing ?

Grayson Perry probably does it be the centre of attention, but what a pity that he can't let his excellent works do that for him instead.
So, sqad, are you saying that there aren't some people who fancy men and women?
but sqad they don't do it to attract men at all..well in my experience, and I think a lot of men have a feminine side which does not detract from their manliness at all...
Sqad - //Look, if you were truly herterosexual ( you fancied women) why would you put on women's clothes to attract men.....difficult to understand eh? and that was the question of the OP.
This business pf men being 40% htero 60%homo or 70%...you get the picture is b,llsh1t. //

I try very hard to state a fact or an opinion based on personal knowledge and / or experience - which is why I dipped out of making any wild claims based on no knowledge whatsoever.

Why don't you join me in that stance?

Jim, when I asked you if that is you in your avatar you said, //Yes, it is. .……Hope it doesn't affect the way you see me, but at any rate it hopefully explains why certain issues discussed on AB matter to me rather.//, it explained nothing. Although I hadn’t asked the reasons, you just seemed to assume that I was aware of them. I’m not, and I told you I don't know where you're coming from with this, but I respect your privacy, of course, and I won’t ask again.

Ummmm, // Can I ask what prompted the question?//

fiction that is bisexual not transvestite..quite separate things
"Grayson Perry probably does it be the centre of attention, but what a pity that he can't let his excellent works do that for him instead."

I think you'll find he does that as well - not instead.

Unless you feel him dressing up in petticoats somehow effects his artwork?!

What a strange opinion to hold Mikey.

I think Sqad is having a little wind up :)
I can't see that sexuality, ie hetero or homo has anything to do with this subject. To use Perry as an example, as far as I know, he heterosexual.

But why does he frequently dress up as Little Bo Peep, if not to shock ?
regardless it does not make them bad people at all..live and let live I say
I am saying that if you are heterosexual male.......you fancy women.
If you are heterosexual male.......then you might, just might try it on with a bloke......for fun or excitement, but another male would be your preference. If you were a heterosexual male and could develop a relationship with a female....you would either become homosexual, go without sex or put on women's clothes.

A true heterosexual male wants a woman for sex.
and he makes avery fetching bo peep !
Mikey.....could he perhaps do if for the same reason that I always wear black?
Good thread though, lets not let this one turn into a fight.
"fiction that is bisexual not transvestite..quite separate things"
I never said what it was.
It was in response to sqad's comment "This business pf men being 40% htero 60%homo or 70%...you get the picture is b,llsh1t"
sqad.. I agree with that last bit..as did the person I knew!

Apparently you don't wish to join me abstaining from holding forth about something I know nothing about!
Nothing strange at all Ed ! Perry is now know known more for his habit of dressing up as fairy story characters, than he is for his art work. He is, in effect, a transvestite who pots, rather than a potter who is also a trannie.

Mikey, //I can't see that sexuality, ie hetero or homo has anything to do with this subject.//

Spot on. I'm talking about men who claim to be heterosexual.

\\\\\Why don't you join me in that stance?\\\
If that means what i think it means.....I find it insulting.

How do you know what sexual experiences I have had...hetero or homo?
