I can understand homosexuality, I can understand trans-gender, but I simply cannot understand why heterosexual men indulge in cross-dressing. Any thoughts that may enlighten me will be welcome.

I don't dress the way I do with the intention of being criticised . . . but I've long come to anticipate it.
anticipate I can understand..... I was a bit concerned about your use of “an invitation to"
//I was a bit concerned about your use of “an invitation to"//

I was anticipating someone might take issue with that . . . and I'm glad to see someone did.
I am glad that you are glad!
When you have no boundaries to follow then there is no limit that how far you would go.
What boundaries? The one that society has somehow dictated that men don't wear dresses unless their profession decrees it , those sorts of boundaries?

I don't see that it matters what one wears as long as it doesn't offend common decency.

Keyplus is talking about religion and Islam in particular. With no one to tell me how to live my life goodness knows what sets my boundaries. Nevertheless, I manage somehow.
Thank you for the explanation , just seemed an odd comment on this topic.
It's a mental quirk. Who looks for rationality there ? Some folk simply feel more comfortable in the role of the opposite gender, up to a point.

I'm guessing - but I'm guessing I'm right.
I trust your guesswork Naomi

That^ was to Mamyalynne.
Careful there Naomi. Someone is likely to label you as a . . . cross-poster.
. . . not that there's anything wrong with that.
I do hope you're not suggesting that Naomi is batting for the other side, mibs?
Well I suppose if that turned out to be the case I could live with it . . . so long as it doesn't interfere with her baking time.

Take that! Sperlatt!! :o)
Any woman wearing jeans is cross dressing. I see no difference between that and a man in a skirt
In the streets I see men wearing trousers and a full length White skirt as well. I wonder why.
The difference is the acceptance of society, the peer pressure disapproval, Quiz. When jeans and trouser suits became acceptable for women then they were 'allowed' by society to cross dress with impunity. And now it is no longer anything to note. As usual, the same freedoms were not made available to the men. But the lack of equal treatment isn't the issue here. It's why some feel the need to do so.

I don't think it can be reasonably compared to homosexuality, which is to do with sexual partner preference; nor transgender, although I suspect in some cases it may indicate a mild desire to have been born as the other gender, without wishing to go so far as to actually mimic them permanently.
