You have this backwards indeed. Not only do the religious feel they have learned all there is to learn, they believe that everything there is to learn was known by some ancient arrogant misogynists who considered that their every thought reflected those of the supreme ruler of the Universe.
Incredible advances in our way of life, physically, intellectually and morally have come as a result of scientific investigation since that time. Meanwhile the Abrahamic faiths have been revealed as an anachronistic pond of primitive stagnant philosophies that perpetuate prejudice, sexual exploitation and child abuse.

it always makes me laugh when religious zealots accuse atheists of being close minded.
it is astonishing that they can come to that conclusion really - given that atheists think for themselves, have read, absorbed, discovered and pondered what they ultimately come to feel - whereas religious people just 'believe' what they are told ... they offer no original thoughts or opinion, what they 'accept' is someone elses words - so to claim it as though it is open mindedness is bizarre - to just blindly accept something that if it came from any other source they themselves would dismiss and ludicrous nonsense, is surely the definition of close mindedness...

I think ahead to the time when everyone who lives on earth will have this same refreshing attitude of mind!
When everyone alive will be perfectly clothed with the “tender affections of compassion, kindness, lowliness of mind, mildness,” and especially love. (Col. 3:12-14)
Yes, all will love Jehovah God with their whole heart, mind, soul and strength; and they will have a Christlike love for their brothers. What a grand incentive to maintain balance now, so as to live then!

Not true, people may be told: that either you accept a blood transfusion or you will die.
Jehovah’s Witnesses often run into such reasoning because of their Bible-based decision to ‘abstain from blood’ in any form. (Acts 15:29)
The weakness of this line of reasoning It excludes other valid possibilities. The facts show that there are alternative treatments, and most operations can be performed successfully without blood.

From the same article "Clearly, Jesus would not get involved with the political and military structures of his day."
From Exodus 4:21
4:21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.
Those pesky contradictions again. Explain please.

Ah boingo - you're just not seeing the bigger picture here are you?
If blood is needed, you refuse, because you are a JH, and you don't believe it is right.
Your loved one will die, like the doctor's told you, but that's OK, because like everything else in life from a stubbed toe to an eathquake, it's 'God's Will' so don't be upset, you did the right thing.
Grief? You won't be bothering with that, after all you have done 'God's Will. so you don't need to be sad about signing the death warent of your child or parent.
Are you buying this?
Nope! Me neither!!
