RABAT - A Moroccan theologian repeated his claims Sunday that Muslim girls could marry as early as nine years old, arguing it was sanctioned by the Prophet Mohammed.
"The marriage of nine-year-old girls is not forbidden because according to the Hadith (the Prophet Mohammed's sayings), Mohammed married Aisha when she was only seven-years-old and he consummated his union when she was nine," wrote Sheikh Mohamed Ben Abderrahman Al-Maghraoui on his website (Maghrawi.net).
"Those who criticise me, like the press or Moroccan television as well as the lawyer who filed the complaint (against me), are part of a secular attack against the Islamic nation and its theologians," he added.

Once again you resort to links.
I know what I know and for your information just because I don't tell you so does not mean I know nothing of Islam. Just life itself. just like Catholics are duped into what they believe so can some be duped into becoming a Muslim simply because it suits their current mind set.
In Ridleys case It's whats known as the Stockholm syndrom.
Being taken prisoner and coming to believe what your captor tell you.
Not a very good example really is it.
And as for the rest as I pointed out it suits their mind set.
I really cannot be bothered to read this stuff any more simply because I feel so sorry for you that you have come up with link after link proving just how and defunct your arguments are.

When someone beseeches you to, Open your heart to God, what this request demands is that you close your mind to reason. While dispensing with religious teachings will not in itself provide one with a moral code for living, it is an essential first step to returning to the use of a rational process for discovering the demands imposed by reality on existence and the values that are fundamental to developing a moral code that incorporates human nature, and the rights, freedoms, and responsibilities that are essential to come to mutually agreeable determinations for what is acceptable behavior and what can not and should not be tolerated to insure our survival, well-being and continued evolutionary progress.
Trusting and believing in God and whatever, whoever says He said is an invitation for the worst possible conceivable or inconceivable perversions of what only reality can truly demonstrate is right or wrong as anyone who has managed to maintain the ability to see with and through there own eyes can attest.
It is the development of our ability to reason (not a belief in a benevolent overseer) that has taken us from the club to the ability to wield Occams razor and cut through the tripe of unessential and misguided beliefs. Only by adhering to a rational process will we perceive a vision of a brighter world that awaits us if only we will once again learn how to think.

sammmo, I may be wrong - and I'm sure mibs will tell me if I am - but I think he was really saying that blind adherence to religion drastically inhibits man's intellect and precludes his ability to rationalise logically - but you made me laugh. Thank you. :o)
Mibs, Ah, Occam's Razor - a useful tool indeed - especially when wielded at an acute angle!

keyplus in the same way that you say one persons voice does not make Islam wrong..........the interest/conversion of one government minister does not make Islam right. You can't have it both ways, I'm afraid.
There are many practices condoned in Islam that are seen as downright barbaric to those not held in its thrall..........
Please don't try to create a smokescreen by telling us that there may be disagreement amongst Islamic scholars over the aged of Aisha.............there are long-held cultural practices occuring now based on interpretation of the Koran which are plain wrong and cruel.
I doubt that despite our urging, you will ever criticise another Muslim (it is not permitted, is it ?) but please stop trying to defend the indefensible.
