Is this dead?

I have a 1Gb xD memory card that is no longer recognised by my camera. Thus it will not let me reformat it.
When I try to reformat it on the computer, it appears to do it but then ends by saying "Format incomplete". I get a similar result with HPUSBFW.
Is there anything else I could try before reluctantly commiting it to the rubbish bin?

I'd say that if you've tried it in a couple of different things and it won't format then yep it's probably dead.

Time for a new one... don't buy them from high street stores though... you can get them really cheap online.

Thanks Chuck. Think I'll chuck it. (Sorry!)
It was rescued from my camera which was ruined in the tsunami. I managed to get the pics off & used it since but it's probably eventually succombed to PTDS.
Thanks for link. I buy most of my cards on eBay really cheaply. Have collected a number of 16Mb & 64Mb (unwanted by most people) but they fir my mp3 player and hold 3 or 4 tracks or one CD respectively.

Thanks AC. I had tried the second one, HPUSBFW, before but thanks for introducing me to swissknife. I must accept it has succombed to the dyslexic form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and give it a decent burial.
