i have a networked office PC that seems to have some issues, im sure there is something running in the backround but as yet unable to find it, & yes my tech guys have tried also with no results. For the last 2-3 weeks it really hasnt been running smoothly ie loading programs, XP start screen, curser etc. Around 2.45pm-3.15pm it freezes completely and requires rebooting as this is on such a regular basis thats what makes me think there is something iffy going on, i have tried AVG & Malwarebytes etc. full deep scans with nothing showing up . Any suggestions guys ??

Few things you can try.

Is AVG doing a scheduled scan at that time? There is a setting to give it high processing priority during scans.

Start task manager and select processes tab. Sort by CPU and memory to see what is taking up resources.

Star/Run/ msconfig and select Services and Startup tabs. Search on the net for each "ticked" process and see if it can be disabled.

Run Malwarebytes with a full scan (after updating) in safe mode.
If it's always around the same time in the afternoon, there's a chance it may be overheating. We had one like that and it turned out that the internal fan had packed in.
