i need to have a change to my shift for a 6 mth period as i need a break as feel run down, my employer has only suggested the dayshift but others work evenings, is there a good way to approach this i have considered speaking to dr and work heath person but not getting anywhere, been told not in the interests of company to work diff hours i am in a union, do you think they can help. The only people who get changes easily have children, if i need time out to to get better and especially that i plan to have children in next 2 years i just want to know if i have any grounds to persue this

You would have been employed to work specific hours and obviously your company is not obliged to allow a change of hours just because they no longer suit your lifestyle. It's up to you what you do but you have no leverage as far as employment law is concerned.
