Another linguistic curiosity is that the word "bob", meaning a shilling, had no plural form. We used to speak of a bob, 2 bob, 10 bob &c, never bobs.

However I think I'm taking this far too seriously -as askyourgran says it's just a bit of fun. I was thinking if it was a competition with a huge prize I didn't want askyourgran to miss out by 10 bob :)
