It's banned cos they are a fire hazard with the sparks flying hither and thither, and we do have dreadful forest fires, so I do understand it. Trouble is the people near me are in apartments and they do have barbeque chimnies and the smell of burnt meat can be quite revolting night after night!
Have a word with the Green Party and tell them how damaging the smoke is to the environment (don't know if that's true) but it'll get them flustered and in action!!!

Good Morning.
I am summing up energy to do some housework!! We have a meeting at our house tomorrow to discuss the sale of our land and I am not looking forward to it. It was our turn to be hosts and my house looks a tip at the moment 'cos all my energies are going on the garden.
Baa Humbug!! I must get on.
It's very hot - bbq weather!!!

Well, I resisted the urge to buy those fab ankle sandals until next week, a) cos they were a bit pricey - and daughter gets paid next week :) and b) a bit impractical if I was just gonna hide them under long trousers, so leg bronzing is the order of the day! I did buy another pair of white mocassin type which does go with all clothes, gawd, am I getting sensible in my dotage! Also tried on three -quarter length trousers to go with bootie sandals and looked really silly as do leggings. Bought two silver rings, as I always wear silver in the summer, some more ambientdor Té Verde (my perfume if you remember) and yet some more sunglasses, I now have at least 8 pairs. Really really wanted to buy lots of rubbish today, but funds are limited.

I called them my menopause shoes and quite liked them but left them in Eastbourne last year cos had no more room in suitcase. Hate seeing all these old women wearing them.

and now there's even an AB poll on how many shoes one owns. Really, am I the only one who likes the feeling of asphalt trickling between my toes?

I love going barefoot jno and do it all the time in the summer, but yes the asphalt can get p.d .hot in the summer. When I was living in North London one July in late 60's I crossed the North Circular and I wasn't wearing shoes, by 'eck that burned my soles, it was almost liquid, but I do love eating tar, so had a nibble. Am barefoot as I type!
So am I Neti (barefoot at the moment) Hate wearing shoes and never did back in the 60's unless it was really necessary. I took my driving test in bare feet. It isn't allowed now!! The first thing I do when I come in is take shoes (and socks in winter) off. Sometimes my feet are freezing, but I still can't stand things on my feet.
Don't mind by Birkenstock's though, they are the next best thing to bare feet and they are sooooooooooooo comfortable.

Birkenstock ??? We live parallel lives, thee and me lottie! One thing I cannot do is drive barefoot, and also can never go to a chiropodist, tried it once but cannot stand anyone touching my feet! Yeah I used to hitch hike all round southern England in my youth, barefoot and wearing tent dresses, silly really cos I was exceptionally slim! Now I need them! Oh memories.
Afternoon lolbiddies. I vote we should make signing in with a lolcat compulsory. At least one a day. I'll be able to throw mine away after posting them and then in about five years or so I will have freed *some* memory on my puta. Here's mine for today http://i47.tinypic.com/2dmh9v5.jpg (I laughed at yours:)
Tell me about the smell of burnt meat, Neti. I'm pretty sure I told y'all the people on the bottom floor (some kind of AA group) built a barbeque right under my window a couple of years ago... I hate the smell. Could you come here and threaten to p1*$ on them, Vinny? (Well if he can do it to the JW:)
Oh how I wish I could wear pretty shoes regardless of how they are "built". I like gladiator sandals too Neti. In real life I'm more of a candidate for the velcro kind you posted Lottie... fy fan. (When emotions run strong I resort to the old language:) But the Birkenstock type of shoe I can accept. Look Lottie you'd better wear shoes to see the biddies cos Headmistress has... erm... a thing about feet. And it's not a good thing. Here, try these http://i45.tinypic.com/6zlsup.jpg
