Supermarket Points .

I go to 5 different supermarkets some give points like nectar which I like the best as I can get them elsewhere as well and they are easy to spend.
I get Tesco points and Co-0p divi. Asda and Waitrose give out these green coin things which are of no value to me although they may help a charity somewhere . I just find them irritating .
I find many promotions useless such as £5 off your next £40 shop as long as it's within 7 days or it's not valid in the branch only at the main shop 10 miles away.
Leaving aside convenience for the moment.
Overall which Supermarket do you find is best value. ?

I think the new Tesco initiative where they give you a piece of paper and say we have charged you more today than you could have paid if you shopped elsewhere, therefort we will give you back 1.80 on your next visit. Only two problems, one is they dont say anything - just hand it to you with your receipt so you may accidently bin it. Also I got another which is 4p which is not really worth bothering about. I will though - unless I have thrown it out accidentally!

They should be telling you what the coupon is when they give it to you. You don't have to accept the green coin thing in Waitrose. I like Tesco points because I get my RAC membership with them...£48 of tesco vouchers buys me a £104 RAC membership.
I find that VFM varies from week to week. I hate Asda and never go there.

It's difficult to define best value between supermarkets. I shop at Waitrose mainly because I like their own brands, and think their meat and fish counters are excellent. I could pay less elsewhere for rib eye steak but would I enjoy the steak as much. If I didn't I haven't saved money I've wasted it.
Waitrose price checks and matches Tesco's on a lot of branded goods.

I shop a lot in Aldi, no frills and decent prices. Can't be bothered faffing about with points and cards although I do get Nectar points with my gas/electricity which is great.

Lidl's or Aldi are the best on price.. No points etc so no temptation to buy what you don't really need. I buy fresh meat from a local butcher cheaper than supermarkets.

We like morrisons. They have lovely meat which is all British, and a nice fresh fish counter.

I like Asda - I find their prices overall pretty good. Their stores don't have the overall smartness that I would associate with Waitrose or Sainsbury's, but another reason I personally go to Asda is because it's my nearest supermarket. Petrol costs have got to be taken into consideration these days.

Morrisons are our regular shop these days, they have incentives like £10 of your shop on week 4 if you spend so much on weeks 1-3. I have a Tesco credit card which builds up points on shopping anywhere so some months I get my shopping free at Tesco, if I've built up enough vouchers. The vouchers are very good value if you exchange them for days out or clothing or electrical vouchers. I've just got some nice Pyrex dishes from there for 60% off, using the tokens they were giving away last month.

That Tesco 'We have overcharged you' is a joke. Whoever thought of that?
Why don't they just concentrate on what they are in business for and stop worrying about others. Give the best deal and customers will return, then Tesco won't have massive losses like the last 12 months.

We don't have Morrisons or Waitrose. We use Sainsburys, the staff are lovely, while Tesco''s staff are quite offhand

PS I'm otherwise not particularly loyal to any shop - I go where I can get best value for money on the things I want to buy. I won't go anywhere else than Farm Foods for our toilet rolls!

Tesco 'We have overcharged you' promotion is a bit vague isn't it? The first week I had a £1.25 voucher so I said "On which products did I save please?" to the cashier, "Eh?" she said. "Which products in my trolley were higher priced than Asda or Morrisons etc" I asked - finally she had to admit she hadn't a clue but thought I could check them individually all online. As if!!! What a con ........... How do we know and who is checking this is all above board? The next three weeks suddenly changed things around by the till receipt stating "You have saved buying from us" - surprise, surprise! I really doubt Tescos were cheaper than Asda. Wish we had an Asda and Aldi nearer than 10 miles away.

I get my main shopping delivered from Asda and get the rest from Aldi. Sainsburys is over-priced, Tesco in town is too small and the other one is right the other side of town and Morrisons is just depressing.

I use Sainsburys credit card because it also earns Nectar points wherever I shop.
I was told that the small Supermarket , Express, Local
shops are about 10% dearer than the big stores. I haven't checked it myself.

I swap weeks between Asda and Morrisons mainly. Locally we are stuck with Sainsbury's for which I collect nectar points (the last time I collected my points at Argos for a nice little camera)but Sainsbury's are always dearer than Asda. Morrisons is good value for meat, and bread is nicer than Asda. Although a trip to Lidle or Aldi is a cheaper.
