Does anyone have a foolproof way of separating smoked salmon, bought in a vacuum pack? I usually end up with a shredded mess, which doesn't matter, but I would rather have slices than shreds.

I've never had any smoked salmon or any salmon at all ever.
You are missing out. tony. Delicious.
Doesn't appeal to me, I don't like fish unless it comes from the chippy and it's white and covered in batter.
Ocado's long slices is my absolute fave. I also like the Waitrose Tsar fillet that they do at christmas.
I use a knife that comes to a fine point - a bit like this one but with a longer blade:

Stick the point through a single slice of the salmon and lift it away from the rest.
I only ever buy smoked salmon offcuts from a famous Suffolk smokehouse and serve them higgledy-piggledy and no-one complains!

Goodness, Choux, that was a long time ago. I had totally forgotten about that post. I think it's because I rarely buy smoked salmon, I forget what to do when I do buy a packet.

I will try to retain the information and buy some more smoked salmon next week. Thanks for the reminder, by the way. :-)
