What Do I Do If My Work Don't Reply?

I've sent the care home an email asking if I can change my days as my new job days were only available Monday yo Wednesday. What do I do they haven't replied to my email.

You'll need to work hard to make sure you impress them in your new job to make sure they don't fail your probation or reduce your hours, and also try harder to be flexible and avoid issues with your supervisor- and be lucky to find you enjoy working with your colleagues and managers. With all that you might just make more of a success of it than in your last few roles

If you've been applying for jobs whilst working at the care home, why were you not asking about their flexibility way before now?

I did and cleaning one said immediate start 

you remind me a bit of my 11yo who cannot sem to ever take responsibility for anything!

"it was the care home's fault, it was the warehouse's fault, the cat must have hidden my shoes, the dog ate my homework"

Your emails were only asking how flexible care home could be. You were asking for them to kindly switch your days to Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately they did not agree - this does Not mean you have given them notice - so they have said NO we won't switch days - carry on and come in on Mon Wed and Fri as normal. 

Emails are generally things both people can reply to. You did not say that you would have to leave so have not yet given them notice or continued to work for them for the notice time period.

Well see what a careers advisor says tomorrow I don't want to ask my new job to change days and I think I was afraid to say gotta wait another few weeks.

Both care home and your new job are expecting you in to work on Monday 20th Nov. 

You cannot be on both their payrolls - payment systems- at same time/ same day. 

You need to let these companies know.

BEST SOLUTION TO ALL YOUR PROBLEMS - **Tell the care home that you  are from now on only available for Fridays as from next week and see what they say.

This way you might still be able to go to new job on  Monday.

Both those things happened because they felt you weren't up to the jobs.

You only, "think" the advisor knows? Did you not tell him or her?

Abbey at 21.13 - 'I would have been reliable if care home hadn't cut my hours or warehouse hadn't got rid of me' - do you really, honestly, believe that? You seem to be forgetting that your hours were cut because, frankly, you couldn't cope with the job. The warehouse also didn't find you to be an ideal employee. PS This is meant to be a reality check for you, you seem to be feeling hard done by!

Update careers advisor said; If it’s only 4 hours… is your new job more hours? If so ,then you have your decision.

I said no current one is 

I understand what your careers adviser meant. I think you have misunderstood her response. But why not reply or ring her to check.

Are you paying for her advice? I'm not sure where one finds an employment adviser

Maybe- but abbey has been in work for a long time so I'm not sure why Job Centre is still involved

She replied I would contact your HR department to enquire.. or it would be on your contract.. if you haven’t signed a contract, contact ACAS to ask their I would contact your HR department to enquire.. or it would be on your contract.. if you haven’t signed a contract, contact ACAS to ask their advice
