You'll need to work hard to make sure you impress them in your new job to make sure they don't fail your probation or reduce your hours, and also try harder to be flexible and avoid issues with your supervisor- and be lucky to find you enjoy working with your colleagues and managers. With all that you might just make more of a success of it than in your last few roles

Redhelen no as I couldn't get hold of them.

Personally, I think that working at BM would have been good experience for you.  You should have stuck it out for longer, it's impossible to know if you will like a job and your colleagues after a short time.

Do you want to be a cleaner for the next forty years or so?

When the care home cut your hours was it because they didn't need a cleaner or because you weren't very good at cleaning and following instructions?

Wolf, Abbey's hours were cut (from 30 to 8/9) because it was felt she 'couldn't cope with the pressure'. After that she applied for and got (and disliked) the Home Bargains job.

Question Author

Home bargains was to much I need to work in one job a day

Then why did you take it?

If you're serious about leaving home, Abbey, you need a full time job.

Abbey, yes, I know you said you wanted to have just one job. That's why I was surprised when you applied for the latest part-time job - I thought you'd be concentrating on looking for something with full-time hours.

You couldn't get hold of job1?

They are right next to your house - I thought

Question Author

I have applied for odd full time hours and I was enjoying the care home but because they reduced my hours I had to get another job so I could stay and make me have similar hours

Question Author

Not right next door. I mean I emailed them and they didn't respond

But you said the care home was "on my doorstep."

yes but no but yes

sorry I am having to call time on interaction with this user - just because!

I'm sorry to say this but I am beginning to feel that all on here trying to help Abbey are fighting a lost cause. The advice being given is mostly ignored, yes that is her prerogative, but I feel I am now wasting my time.

Best of luck Abbey I hope you have success in your new job

Redhelen: you are right on job 1 (the current job) being Mon, Wed, Fri but I'm sure the new job (job2) is Monday Tuesday Wednesday. So there's a clash on Mondays and Wednesdays

Question Author

So best way I can help is ask care home if I can just work Friday and new job wants me to start Monday

Abbey, you might be 'enjoying' the care home, but 9 hours  a week is pretty useless AND your supervisor is now  'being a bit funny' with you. Just concentrate, totally, on getting a full-time position somewhere. You said you enjoy cleaning, housekeeping - there's usually a lot of demand for these jobs, so you should be able to find something suitable.

I am now definitely calling time on AL threads where good advice is given and ignored....

Question Author

In the new job there will opportunities to progress to supervisor and go full time so I'll just call them and say can I do one a day week like Friday which I currently do and I only do stairs 8-11am

Abbey, the care home might say 'don't bother' when you ask for your 1 day a week choice!  Also, could you really live on a salary based on only 24 hours work a week?

Question Author

It was 25 with the new job and care home
