I am not that surprised at this, as prejudice and bigotry abound when it comes to nursing mothers.
But in this particular case, the ignorant person making the complaint was another woman !

If something is in my eye-line that offends me, I merely have to rotate my eyes a few degrees in either direction, and it is not longer in my eye-line. If something offends you like this, you have the option to look away. I find most peoples' table manners are absent in restaurants these days, but I wouldn't abuse someone over it - and that is the key to this. You are...

I don't understand this......if you were going out for a meal, then why take a 11 week old baby? In my day as a father, we were glad to get out for a change and always had a baby sitter. one would only be away from the baby for at most 2 hours, so what is the problem re feeding. Feed it before you go and it should be fine.
\\\\when Evie woke up and needed a feed,\\\
How did they know that little Evie needed a feed?
Look here, I am a mother and have a baby who is going to be fed on the breast in this restaurant......stuff you all.

Sqad - //How did they know that little Evie needed a feed? //
She probably said, "Mum, I'm a bit peckish, can I have a sandwich, it is lunch time and I haven't had anything since breakfast ..."
How do you think they knew?????
Babies cry when they are hungry, and they don't stop until they are fed.
Do you have children Sqad?

Or alternatively - I am a mother who has a hungry baby, I am in a restaurant that has an advertised policy welcoming mothers and children, and I am going to discreetly feed my baby. It's not a freak show - feel free not to look if you don't want to."

Maybe, but they cry for many other reasons...and i ask again....how did mother know that "little Evie" was crying because she was hungry. She may have had earache, colic, nappy needed changing...etc.
\\\\Do you have children Sqad? \\\
Have a guess.

I think you do - but you don't appear to have grasped the most obvious lesson about new-born babies - the first thing you do when they are hungry is offer them some milk. If they stop crying, it's because they were hungry, if not, then move on to other logical causes, such as the ones you mentioned.
But at that age, you can take an educated guess that the baby is crying because she is hungry, and that appears to have been the case.
If the mother had sat there for ten minutes with the baby getting louder and louder while she went through your list of probable causes, no doubt the people on the next table would have moaned about that as well!

Naomi - //The mother's attitude and behaviour is more relevant. //
The complainers were offered another table and refused to move.
That sounds to me like someone who is going to make a fuss and not be given an option to remove the cause of the fuss - being able to see this mother feeding, although why it is necessary to watch and be upset is beyond me - look away you miserable woman, it's nothing to do with you!

mikey......I was answering A-H comment to me....
\\\\From what you are trying to say, it wouldn't matter if it were hungry, but it would if the child was crying for some other reason. \\\
I was pointing out to MrA-H that there are other reasons for a child crying.
A-H and you mikey must get over the fact that on "many" topics" people disagree with your opinions.......that doesn't make them idiots or bad people, they just have differing opinions for whatever reasons.
This is not only on AB but in life as a whole.
