"The British Retail Consortium" Which represents all the major food and retail chains in the UK.
Has said it expects to see food shortages and more empty shelves by the end of this week.
This is no longer about... will Christmas be OK ......It's about keeping the wheels turning and the lights on so we can get to Christmas..... Come on Boris ... time to step in. Before there is a winter of discontent under your leadership.

Its not a case of disagreeing or agreeing with gully, its looking at the facts. As someone who normally sells product to the EU, I personally am hitting brick walls trying to trade with the EU. They are making a scapegoat of the UK in a vain attempt to try and stop other Nations from thinking about coming out. Boris did not make good deals and God knows he had plenty...

I think we're being played here.

There's a shortage of carbon dioxide for industry but a massive surplus of carbon dioxide causing global warming.

Doubtless the wrong kind of carbon dioxide but good grief, we have clever people who are paid to sort this stuff out!
Get it bottled and let's get on with makin' steak.

22.34 Don't blame me , you voted out, get on with it.
Lol
There is no post at 22.34
Nowt to do with Brexit, or no wind, or covid or Boris.

There is a shortage of gas, mainly due to the Russian Gazprom turning down the taps, and our main supply line between the UK and France being put out of business due to a fire. Boris is very slightly to blame for the lack of gas storage.

We had the same problem 3 years ago, and lessons will be learnt. Except they weren’t.

Hard luck gulliver, they are going to start producing carbon dioxide again so there won't be food shortages. Keep on trolling, hopefully it will eventually get you banned.
Cows burping produce methane.
"They use carbon dioxide in the stun guns in slaughter houses."

No, CO2 is an alternative to stun guns. The animals breathe a high concentration of CO2 until they are rendered unconscious.

Stun guns are either captive bolt (powered by an explosive charge or compressed air) or electric prongs.
APG talking a load of nonsense again?. Who'da thunk it?
Who needs Only Fools and Horses, or Fawlty Towers when you can get all your laughs reading this thread?
Yes and that is why he gets asked for links as we all know he has nothing to support his bull.

Anyway Gully you claim not to be in the UK so what do you care?
I'd say its more of a warning of the reliance on American Venture capitalists. That is where the Government should be turning its attention.
Lack of wind IS a factor because it makes the shortages caused by increased demand more acute.
In the same way Brexit is a factor in the HGV driver shortage - fundamentally not caused by Brexit - as it means less backup

APG@ 23.09 ,You are spot on again , with the slaughter houses and the foodstuff.
I can't understand how people think Brexit has nothing to do with food shortages! Where do these people go shopping? Brexit is part of the 'perfect storm' that has resulted in food shortages, Lack of HGV drivers due to Covid (and Brexit), lack of staff to pick food grown in the UK (Covid & Brexit) . Sticking one's fingers in one's ears while chanting land of Hope & Glory will not put food on the table for Christmas!
