"The British Retail Consortium" Which represents all the major food and retail chains in the UK.
Has said it expects to see food shortages and more empty shelves by the end of this week.
This is no longer about... will Christmas be OK ......It's about keeping the wheels turning and the lights on so we can get to Christmas..... Come on Boris ... time to step in. Before there is a winter of discontent under your leadership.

Its not a case of disagreeing or agreeing with gully, its looking at the facts. As someone who normally sells product to the EU, I personally am hitting brick walls trying to trade with the EU. They are making a scapegoat of the UK in a vain attempt to try and stop other Nations from thinking about coming out. Boris did not make good deals and God knows he had plenty...

We have had shortages since December last year and it is getting worse.
In Tesco on Sunday barely any frozen veg, Cat food and Dog food only half the range available.
Specialist Catfood we have been warned that this will reduce availability again so am currently building stock of this too.
Its getting worse not better and if this winter is like last we will struggle with fire wood and coal too.
I don't understand why some on here proclaim there are no shortages in the shops unless they do click and collect, or delivery, so never go in one. On the surface there are no empty shelves but on close inspection they are putting what they do have over many more shelves, so they look full. The other day in Aldi they had five large freezers of frozen chips but hardly any frozen veg and very few pizzas
I always do my own shopping. I’ve never had it delivered or done click and collect.

What you doing burning wood and coal, redhelen?
I am wondering where everyone is in the country as its maybe a regional thing. I believe redhelen is in Northern Island, I'm in the North East.
NJ probably the same as me -we live too far out to have gas and electric is expensive to heat your home. We have oil central heating and 'real' fires. My house was built in around 1870 and all the fireplaces are still working -though the ones in the bedrooms are blocked up.
Its called heating our home NJ!
Unless I want to burn oil continually we have no choice as there is no mains gas in the sticks!
I also burn peat when I can buy in bulk.
1886 for us APG, 2 open fires and a multifuel stove.
If we didn't have the fires then it would be damn cold.
Northern Ireland I can understand because that part of the UK has been cut adrift by the disgusting "Northern Ireland Protocol.".

I don't know about the North East but there are no real shortages where I live. The odd gap here and there - bottled water seems the worst hit. But nothing that particularly bothers me. Plenty of fresh fruit and veg, frozen stuff widely available. This problem may actually be a blessing in disguise. The big supermarkets carry a ridiculously high number of lines and it may concentrate their minds. For example, my local Tesco's must have around twenty or even more varieties of loaf available. They need three - white, brown and wholemeal. They do bread with cheese in it, thin sliced, medium sliced, thick sliced, bloomers, French sticks, "tiger" loaves (don't ask because I don't know). Just gone to their website for a check. Searched "Bread":

Options: White bread; brown bread; wholemeal bread; half and half bread (what?).

White bread - 40 options.

Seeded bread - 18 options.

Utterly ridiculous.

APG 15.27. Think most Brexiteers live in Cuckoo land or Narnia.
^I don't see anything "utterly ridiculous" in having a large choice of any foodstuffs...
Depends whether they can provide them all, I suppose. When the system is stressed (as it seems to be now) they may need to reconsider.

Boris said when he came into power 2019 ....I have oven ready trade deals ...ready for after Brexit .It will be my Christmas present to the nation . trouble was he didn't say which Christmas. Will he fill the empty shelves for this Christmas?
Don’t know, gully. Such a worry. Will you organise a food collection for us from your mates in Europe? We’re all starving and destitute so it would be a kindness. Oh hang on. They’re having problems finding people to drive lorries too. Oh woe is us!
I'm still waiting for all the chlorinated chicken we were promised, perhaps Gullible can tell us where it is.
Cake for me please.
