"The British Retail Consortium" Which represents all the major food and retail chains in the UK.
Has said it expects to see food shortages and more empty shelves by the end of this week.
This is no longer about... will Christmas be OK ......It's about keeping the wheels turning and the lights on so we can get to Christmas..... Come on Boris ... time to step in. Before there is a winter of discontent under your leadership.

Its not a case of disagreeing or agreeing with gully, its looking at the facts. As someone who normally sells product to the EU, I personally am hitting brick walls trying to trade with the EU. They are making a scapegoat of the UK in a vain attempt to try and stop other Nations from thinking about coming out. Boris did not make good deals and God knows he had plenty...

Like this, do you mean?

Haven't you seen the news?
The government have come to an agreement to get the CO2 production restarted.

If you are worried about the price of gas causing problems, have a word with your mate Vladimir.
do you have a link to this as recommended under news?

Nothing to do with Brexit,,,,of course.
Oh dear, poor gully. You chaps have just taken the wind out of his sails...
You have got to remember,Gulliver,it isnt due to Brexit it is due to Covid.Thats what all the supermarket workers whose bosses were leading Brexiteers were told to say to their customers.

From food to building supplies there are major shortages in the UK at the moment... caused because of Brexit. Border controls have been delayed up till now to try and soften the Blow ... But when full border controls are implemented on the 1st Jan 2022 . .... Things ain't gonna get any better.
Have fun.
If you want to make it all about Brexit then do so if it helps you sleep better.
But before you turn in, remember that the threatened food shortages are mainly due to a lack of Carbon Dioxide. This is because the country has had a "head in the sand" energy policy which depends to a great degree on wind power. The wind hasn't blown much in the past few weeks and gas prices have spiked. This has caused two large fertiliser plants (which produce CO2 as a by-product) to close down.

Meanwhile, people continue to glue themselves to the M25 to persuade the government to rely to an even greater degree on energy sources such as wind power.
All the wind has been on here ;-)
Too true. I doubt very much we'll die of starvation, but tedium could take its toll. :o/
I have noticed the odd brand shortage but no generic food shortages.
How would a lack of carbon dioxide production lead to a food shortage?
It's used in vacuun packing.
They use carbon dioxide in the stun guns in slaughter houses. They also use carbon dioxide when packing foodstuff to extend the shelf life.
I agree with both gulliver and new judge. It's all the fault of something I don't like. In my case it's the Rolling Stones. It's all their fault.
OK, thanks for the answers regarding carbon dioxide. It seems rather ironic that cattle supposedly produce a lot of carbon dioxide when they fart, and now their life span is being extended because of a lack of the same gas:)

No empty shelves or shortages reported in E/U Countries,

Is this why you never post links ? Is it because you get found out so easily ?
