But they carry atmospheric data collecting equipment, not high resolution cameras.
Plus they don't have a remote controlled rudder to help steer them where they are wanted,,

They aren’t weather balloons. They are spy balloons.

At least, the non-UFO ones are.

They're not UFOs. They're surveilance devices, apparently. I think it's Ernst Blofeld, launching these, so that China and the USA will blame each other. Defo.

I suspect the Americans are having a laugh. They know exactly what they are shooting down. A bit of target practice, and a bit of propaganda to appeal to the hawks in Government.
