Why is this witch strutting her stuff in the UK again. Surely there are more serious "climate change offenders" she could target?

Only the weak use such language to describe someone.

If the UK is a world leader then what we does matters, because we are leaders.

We can't say both that we're leaders and that we're irrelevant, it has to be one or the other.

Funny isn't it how it is acceptable for the likes of Johnson and Farage, to name just two, to be called all manner of names, and yet when this annoying jumped-up irritant is called a witch, the sisterhood pile-in and become all indignant, and even a mod becomes precious,

10:57 "We can't say both that we're leaders and that we're irrelevant, it has to be one or the other." Of course we can we are doing what we can but what we do does not and cannot make any difference. It's like a single honey bee's contribution to the honey in the hive, she can work her socks off visiting more flowers than any other bee but in the end her total contribution to the hive is negligible even though she is the top bee in the hive.

10:57, BA bang on DD.

Miss T laps up the attention. She is a modern day would be martyr. The more she is reviled the better she likes it.

Only thing is she only ever protests - breaking the law or encouraging others to do so - where she knows the authorities will treat her kindly.

"If the UK is a world leader then what we does matters, because we are leaders."

Leaders only matter if they have followers. The worlds top three polluting countries (China, India and the USA) have no intention of crippling their nations' economies and diminishing their citizens standard of living pursuing a pointless ambition and they will not be among those following the UK's lead.

Between 2017 and 2022, carbon emissions by China increased by 1.64bn tons - a 15% rise. By contrast emissions by the UK fell by 10%. However, the UK's entire emissions total in 2022 was just 0.34bn tons. So it would require five countries with emissions similar to those of the UK to cease all theirs entirely (not "net entirely") just to offset Chinas increase over the last five years.

This needs to be emphasised because this country is impoverishing its people, destroying a lot of its industry and crippling its economy in the pursuit of a ridiculous target which, even if it were achieved, would serve no useful purpose whatsoever. It seems quite happy to transfer its carbon emissions elsewhere and the only thing it is leading the world in is virtue-signalling lunacy.

Ms Thunberg would be far better off in her pursuit of global penury if she transferred her own personal emissions elsewhere, preferably to Beijing or Delhi. I did wonder how she actually got here because I doubt she walked.

> If the UK is a world leader then what we does matters, because we are leaders.

That was my quote. We're either leaders or we're not. Everything you've said, NJ, says that we are not. You're saying that we should do something because that's what the likes of China and India are doing. That's not leading, it's following. Worse than that, we either agree and support what China are doing, or we don't. If we agree then let's not say that we're doing it because they're doing it, because that would be a lie: we'd be doing it because we thought it was the right thing to do. Whereas if we don't agree with it and we do it anyway, then what does that say about us? That we don't follow our own convictions.

In other words, if we as a country think that Net Zero is the right thing to do for the planet then we should do it, regardless of what anyone else does, because to do otherwise is not the British way - we are leaders, we know our own minds and we do what we think is the right thing, not following China if we disagree with them.

ellipsis, so you are quite happy to destroy our economy for no benefit to us or the world. Right oh!

/because to do otherwise is not the British way - we are leaders, we know our own minds and we do what we think is the right thing,//

Ooh err missus he has come over all Empire now. Makes a change from insisting that we are better off letting the EUSSR run our lives. The Sweedish doom goblin is the one that put the mental in enviromentalist.

To people who want to bully a young woman with autism, wow aren't you brave. I am sure your family and friends are proud of you

> so you are quite happy to destroy our economy for no benefit to us or the world.

No much more than you would be quite happy to destroy the world to benefit our economy.

There are choices, you know.

//To people who want to bully a young woman with autism, wow aren't you brave. I am sure your family and friends are proud of you//

If someone chooses to put themselves on the world stage leading protests and demanding that everyone else change their ways then they have to be prepared to be criticised   You cannot expect exemption simply because she has a 'condition' - and neither can she.

Fiveleaves - I gave said many times, as have others, that the immorality lies with her parents,  who shamelessly abuse her by setting her up to address naive members of her generation.

Its the parents i blame also,A-H.They are making millions off their precious little daughter.Laughing all the way to the bank in their diesel 4x4.

“You're saying that we should do something because that's what the likes of China and India are doing.”

Not quite. China and India have not changed their habits, so there’s nothing for us to copy. It’s like saying I’ve copied somebody because they haven’t gone on a diet, even though I don’t need to.

“In other words, if we as a country think that Net Zero is the right thing to do for the planet then we should do it, regardless of what anyone else does, because to do otherwise is not the British way”

Only if you’re foolish. Unless the rest of the world – especially the big hitters - pursues net zero, it will be ineffective. I hold the opinion that even if they did it would be ineffective anyway, but that’s another argument.  Therefore, before embarking upon a strategy which carries enormous costs and significant lifestyle changes, it is essential to consider whether it will be effective or not. It is clear that many countries in the world have not embraced “Net Zero” or anything like it. It is also clear they have no intention of doing so. The result of this can be seen in the UK. Much of its heavily energy dependent industry has been lost. The recent saga in the steel industry is a good example. But the country still requires steel unless it is to regress. That steel is still made elsewhere, in countries which do not care too much about how much coal they burn. The result of that is that emissions from the UK which previously came about as a result of our steelmaking now emanate from elsewhere. All we’ve done is “exported” our emissions and consequently we have to import our steel from sometimes unstable countries upon whom we cannot always rely.

It should be “the British way” to do what is in the best interest of the British people. The UK is responsible for less than 1% of total global carbon emissions. If they ceased entirely tomorrow it would have no bearing whatsoever on climate change. China would make of the deficiency in a couple of months (or probably sooner because they would undoubtedly pick up some of the industry which we would have to lose). It’s like keeping your corner of the swimming pool clean and tidy by not peeing in it when you know full well that everybody else is. They won’t follow your example, so “British way” or not, whilst you may feel good about it, you’re only fooling yourself that you’re doing any good.

“To people who want to bully a young woman with autism, wow aren't you brave.”

Why not? She seems perfectly content to bully everybody else who does not agree with her point of view. If other people’s reactions cause her distress she can simply withdraw gracefully.

In other words, we're doomed, so why not keep throwing more fuel onto the fire, like everyone else, and be sheep rather than showing any leadership at all.

By the way, what business is it of this ugly Swede to get involved in a UK airport wanting to increase its traffic?

UT is 21 years old and far from being an "ugly Swede" as DD has said, she is a beautiful young woman. Can we have a photo of you DD please?

Shhh,Desky.Little Mrs Thunberg has multiple"mental health"issues.Clearly her parents dont, they are milking their daughter for all she is worth.
