madybirder; that's good news. I wish him well.

Sorry; I should have said "lad..." rather thn "mad..."

From what I remember (I was very young at the time) the previous King's reign was punctuated with repeated health concerns (he was a  heavy smoker which didn't help). I do hope we're not returning to that scenario, Charles deserves a fair crack at the job without health distractions.

Why hasn't this been on all UK news channels, at great length with reinforcing repetitiveness?

I saw it on BBC news.

Canary, I think George smoked like a chimney. The risks weren't fully appreciated at the time but I don't think it was a huge surprise that he died young. Charles doesn't smoke of course and Camilla gave it up when they married.

Just as well he went for that checkup and hopefully he was right in publicising the issue so other people will too.

William must be looking over his shoulder. Harry will also be musing upon this recent revelation.

Tragic as it is, I dont think we can have too many bank holidays.

OH.

Very sad for the Royal Family, and very sad for the UK. I wish him well and hope he makes a speedy recovery .

It's made me feel very sad.  I hope the treatment works and wish him well.  I've always liked  Charles.

What does OH mean in this situation AA?

It was a reaction to the reply before mine .

Yep, KGVI loved his oily rags and KCIII now has the Big C. Not good. Might be curable/treatable, from the sound of it.

Thanks AA.  It was the capitals that confused me.  Oh I would have understood.  Silly me.

nobody "deserves" a crack at the job of King. it should not exist.

i do not wish the king any harm at all but i do think it must be said that the existence of monarchy is a tragedy

No, Untitled, that's when the feeling's gone and you can't go on.

Must be concerning as Prince Harry is coming to see him.

god that will make him jump out of bed !

loong live King Chuck

It is frightening for  anyone when the word 'cancer' is mentioned and King C. is right to say that  he is only human.  I've always had a  lot of time for him.  In this case I think he can be optimistic.  Whatever cancer it is has obviously been caught and identified very early, so the outlook is positive.

It's caring and responsible of him to point out the exact type of  operation he has had. This has possibly alerted a lot of men to getting themselves checked and is a major health positive.

He may well have saved many lives.  Good man, I wish him  well and a complete recovery.

Canary, I think George smoked like a chimney.

Crown does it  well - when the King sent off Princess Elizabeth a few weeks after his peumonectomy - cinema audiences ( news reel) gasped at how ill he looked
