If this is the case he should do really well. Bowel cancer would be more complicated and tends to be chemo, surgery, more chemo. The pattern will give more idea. Of course there is always the lymphomas, leukaemias, that would be picked up from blood tests but let us hope this is not the case although in older people they can often be managed quite long term.

canary... what is there to be concerned about? he has received a prompt diagnosis, he has access to excellent medical care and he is comfortable at home... if any of these things were untrue then i would share in your concern but they are not!
he's old and old people get sick. it is very unlikely to be an illness that was preventable... what are you concerned about? what is the problem here?
the first thing i would want for anyone with cancer is that they receive good treatment promptly... the second thing i would want is that they are comfortable and treated with respect... the third is that they are surrounded by loved ones, whoever those people might be.
he's got all those things. what else is there to be concerned about? i don't get it.
