Wy Do You Hate Vegans? Vegan Here... Ask Me Anything :)

I love this site... have been a member for far too long lol
I rarely post but am always here and as a vegan I am basically gobsmacked at times at peoples attitude towards my lifestyle choice and yes it is a choice. As is yours.
BUT [from the Vegan Society]
Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.
At 47 years of age [50 this year] I adopted the Vegan lifestyle because I became aware of the apathy and my own jaded sense of what is right and wrong. Right to kill a pig... but not a dog? blah blah blah
Have you ever watched any documentaries concerning veganism? Earthlings? Cowspiracy? What the health?
Do you know what cognitive dissonance is?
I'm not posting this to be confrontational, I am truley interested in what people think :)

Not veganism naomi, but vegeterianis m and I'm starting tomorrow when I go shopping for food. I totally agree with andres, there is far too much suffering in the animal world, all down to us. How awful for them to know they are going to die.

Hey Naomi
Because they are not mine.
So. If every time you had a period someone came and ate you would not think it normal?
But we have been educated to believe that we can do this to a chicken. Personally I love eggs but now I understand that it's really a bit *** up and sick to be honest and tofu with black salt has just the same taste... without the cholesterol...

I don't hate Vegans but I *do* find them insufferable and everything you have posted has simply reinforced that.
There is no 'cognitive dissonance' at play with the majority of people who continue to be meat-eaters. I think it would be fair to say that most of them would prefer that there were practices in place to ensure the better treatments and death of *all* animals prior to their death. But apart from joining in campaigns to promote/acheive that, there isn't a great deal that we can do.
Smug evangelism, condescension and patronising diatribes tend to have the opposite effect when it comes to winning over converts....

That argument doesn't stack up. I'm not eating the hen.
No. You're eating a by product of a hen that has been kept in a cage not much bigger than she is for her entire miserable life.
Just because you have 'free-range' eggs available to you [1st world] it does not take away from the suffering we inflict on our fellow [non human] beings.
The biscuits you eat containing egg... bet your life those hens weren't running around in some bluebell woods that you picture.

''there isn't a great deal that we can do''
I beg to differ.
It's all about the choices we make.
I choose not to have 'animals' killed in my name.
I'm sorry you find it so annoying of vegans to not want to inflict any form of suffering on any being that happens to have the misfortune of living beside us.
If you find it ok to kill babies that only want to live...
Take children from mother's whom only wish to nurture then I will continue to annoy you.... much love xx
Pop quiz????
Watched Earthlings yet?

So it seems i still dont have an answer to my questions. I will presume its an oversight not avoidance. Despite that i will ask a couple more. Where do vegans stand on medicines/vaccinations? And clothes, particularly shoes, what can you wear that hasnt caused some harm to some living thing somewhere along the line in its development or manufacture. Personally to me it seems an impossible ideal that is totally impractical in this modern world. Almost everything you will encounter has at some point impacted on a living being at some stage and the exploitation of animals has been happening pretty much since modern humans have existed.

It took me about a year to fully 'transition' to a Vegan lifestyle.
I buy all my household products online with Ocado. Astonish products are all vegan and cheap [and recyclable] :)
I am still new to this way of thinking and it took a while to make my home vegan but it is doable
Choices.... needed a new mattress, chose one free of down and hair [Ikea and amazing value!]
There are so many things out there to make this way of life easy.
Animal lovers using L'oreal? Kittens eyes used to make sure I know that my eyes will water if I get shampoo in them... not in my name. Superdrug own brand for the world!

Hey Ratty!
So sorry... no avoidance... but do need to get ready for work ...
Medicines and supplements....
We all need to live and society has given us many ways of doing so.
I take medicines as needed, as the VS advises, but will always seek a vegan alternative.
I was taking a vegan b12 supp but was advised to stop as my levels were too high... lol, total win for a vegan.
Pop quiz... where do meat eaters get their b12?
As for everything else.. We live in amazing forward thinking times. There are so many different ways to live.
Why does anyone need boots made of a dead animals skin? Waterproof? So are the vegan alternatives... Google is your friend lol
As soon as I open Google it types in Vegan lol Want to make cakes? Just type in vegan first :)
Sadly what you infer is correct... this way of living is not for now but I will die happy knowing I'm doing my bit so to speak. I can look my dog in the eye and tell him I love him and all of my fellow beings...
Me... a bit of a hippy... oh gods yes lol
