So whats it all about?
Retribution, judgment, what?
End times (again) maybe?
A plague from God?
A precursor of the Anti-Christ?
Serious question, what the **** is this all about then?
Or is it simply an unprecedented virus that science will cure?

Andy, no I'm not.
I am not getting into a situation where a question that takes a minute to ask, ( The death of the Canaanites,) but takes very lengthy background information to be provided before an actual answer is coherent.
I don't have the time or energy to do that.
Then there are the problems of textual variation whic seem so important to some. Eg did Jesus ride into Jerusalem on a donkey, a colt or a penny farthing bicycle.
To not answer means me being lambasted for omission, but again time energy and space prevent me giving any comprehensive answers.

Professor Peltzer’s talk is 6 years old. There has been a lot of new research since then showing that the ‘miracle’ required could be far simpler. Peptides can be formed without amino acids.
scientists have discovered a new class of complex folding molecules that emerge spontaneously from simple building blocks.
Research has shown that reactions of alpha-hydroxy acids, similar to the alpha-amino acids that make up modern proteins, form large polymers easily under conditions presumed prevalent on early Earth.

Theland, //The death of the Canaanites//
I know in your own head you justify that slaughter... but what really is 'good' about it? Or about killing millions of innocent people in the flood? Or taking bets on Job's loyalty - at great expense to Job. Really ... what is 'good' - or even moral - about any of that?

Good job you dont take the Bible literally then??
//I am not getting into a situation where a question that takes a minute to ask, ( The death of the Canaanites,)//
Why do you use the phrase ''death of the Canaanites''?
Why dont you use the biblical description...the SLAUGHTER of the Canaanites?
And not just the Canaanites, but also the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, and many, many more.
Time and time again God orders the wholesale SLAUGHTER of Israel's surrounding neighbours.
Or is this not literal?

That's a point I have made many many times, and of course, been ignored, which is exactly what I expect.
Simply put - mankind has the facility to believe something, even when a specific interpretation is utterly unintentional and invalid.
There are plenty of rock fans who honestly believe that the synchronization between the Wizard Of Oz film and the 'soundtrack' coincidences with Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon are intentional and planned by the band at the time of recording.

Seems par for the cause here on AB Andy with the devout astutely avoiding harsh questions or replying with another question.
Cognative dissonance at its best...
Re: Pink Floyd/ Wizard of Oz, found that a bit freaky first time that I came across it, must admit :-)
