to the religious....
So whats it all about?
Retribution, judgment, what?
End times (again) maybe?
A plague from God?
A precursor of the Anti-Christ?

Serious question, what the **** is this all about then?
Or is it simply an unprecedented virus that science will cure?

Read your own posts, theland, and it will become clear. .

Theland, google late bombardment / cyanide reaction with metals under UV light.
Think I investigated cyanide a few months ago and found it wanting.
But I shall revise it.
Thank you.
As I recall, it was cyanide in two geothermal pools, interchanging their liquids.
I shall look again.
For those who love science - one and a half hours long.
(The rest can skip this.)

Professor Edward T Peltzer.
Riveting stuff.
From yesterday at 20:44 -

// Are you guys really going to go round this roundabout again?

Really? //

It appears that yes, you are.
Andy, no I'm not.
I am not getting into a situation where a question that takes a minute to ask, ( The death of the Canaanites,) but takes very lengthy background information to be provided before an actual answer is coherent.
I don't have the time or energy to do that.
Then there are the problems of textual variation whic seem so important to some. Eg did Jesus ride into Jerusalem on a donkey, a colt or a penny farthing bicycle.
To not answer means me being lambasted for omission, but again time energy and space prevent me giving any comprehensive answers.
Theland - // Andy, no I'm not. //

Clearly you are - the evidence is there for anyone to read - if they can actually be bothered.
Theland, it doesn't seem to bother you regarding research, time, etc when you ask a question. Your playing field is tilted.
Professor Peltzer’s talk is 6 years old. There has been a lot of new research since then showing that the ‘miracle’ required could be far simpler. Peptides can be formed without amino acids.

scientists have discovered a new class of complex folding molecules that emerge spontaneously from simple building blocks.

Research has shown that reactions of alpha-hydroxy acids, similar to the alpha-amino acids that make up modern proteins, form large polymers easily under conditions presumed prevalent on early Earth.
The last abiogenesis conference was held, I believe between 2016 and 2018, and ended with more problems and questions than it had answered.
In simple terms, science has failed.
Theland, Science may not have come up with the precise answer you seek, but that doesn't mean that your God - or any God - is responsible .... does it?
Theland - // In simple terms, science has failed. //

In simple terms, so has Christianity.
Theland, //The death of the Canaanites//

I know in your own head you justify that slaughter... but what really is 'good' about it? Or about killing millions of innocent people in the flood? Or taking bets on Job's loyalty - at great expense to Job. Really ... what is 'good' - or even moral - about any of that?
AH, I don't agree that Christianity has failed. I think it's been a huge success.
Sorry naomi, I failed to make my point clearly - in terms of proving the origin of the earth and everything on it, clearly Christianity has failed.

However, in terms of proof, however long it takes, science will get there first!!
Theland, science often becomes more complex when new research is found. I’m sorry your source was out of date but if you’re to be taken seriously, you should check the chronology of your source info.

Meanwhile, the bible still has zero answers.

//The Koran is a book of violence and if followed literally, leads to the numerous terrorist outrages//

Good job you dont take the Bible literally then??

//I am not getting into a situation where a question that takes a minute to ask, ( The death of the Canaanites,)//

Why do you use the phrase ''death of the Canaanites''?
Why dont you use the biblical description...the SLAUGHTER of the Canaanites?
And not just the Canaanites, but also the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, and many, many more.
Time and time again God orders the wholesale SLAUGHTER of Israel's surrounding neighbours.
Or is this not literal?

That's a point I have made many many times, and of course, been ignored, which is exactly what I expect.

Simply put - mankind has the facility to believe something, even when a specific interpretation is utterly unintentional and invalid.

There are plenty of rock fans who honestly believe that the synchronization between the Wizard Of Oz film and the 'soundtrack' coincidences with Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon are intentional and planned by the band at the time of recording.

https://www.goldminemag.com/features/how-to-view-the-wizard-of-oz-with-dark-side-of-the-moon

The band have repeatedly denied this, claiming it is simply coincidence - but people believe what they want to believe - don't they Theland ...

Seems par for the cause here on AB Andy with the devout astutely avoiding harsh questions or replying with another question.
Cognative dissonance at its best...

Re: Pink Floyd/ Wizard of Oz, found that a bit freaky first time that I came across it, must admit :-)
"what the ‘it’s’ in your post above?"

Same it as per the OP. "So whats it all about?". Religion I assumed.
