Zone Alarm

I had to uninstal and reinstall zone alarm.  However when i log in the icon does not show up, i have tried double clicking on it in the programmes but nothing happens.  However my other login users on the same computer have zone alarm up and running.  Am i protected? if not what can i do.

have you scanned for viruses/sypware as some of these can disable a firewall?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and still the same.  How come that the other users on my pc show the icon for zone alarm and it is shown in my programmes am i protected?  Any help grateful
