Pruning Shrubs
799 Answers
Have any of you lovely gardeners hard pruned, into old thick wood, any of the following shrubs and had them live to see another year?!! I read all the books but there's so much conflicting advice when it comes to renovation pruning.
Olearia haastii (Daisy bush)
Lonicera fragrantissima (winter honeysuckle - think this one will be ok)
Cotinus (smoke Bush).

Nice hares Woofy. I wonder if any are made actual hare size. I now have a craving for a stone hare in the garden. They are lovely creatures and keep us very amused on the field behind us. We have had a rutting stag in the wood behind for a few days who seems to be shortsited. He keeps coming out and chasing the hares and popped out in front of Mr LL and Meggie the other evening showing great interest in Megs. He is very noisy too!! Hope he finds a mate soon.
See yu later.

no cramp today, it must have shifted to warmer climates. I am working my way through my photos and thought you might like to see one of the humble little cabin I stay in by the beach

It's the one at top right. Down the driveway, across the grass and into the sea. All expressions of envy welcome.
Lottie, I'm sorry to hear there are stag dos even in your part of the world.

Morning chilly friends, a meagre 8C here, tut.
Well I won a tenner on the lotto last night which will barely get me a bucket & spade never mind a beach abode...so consider my envy duly expressed also. <blows raspberry>.
Seems it won't even buy me a starey hare, they ask a lot for some of them don't they? probably 'cos they have a pagan/hippy thing going on. I am a bit obsessed by hares at the moment tho, it's weird. Every where i look there seems to be a reference to them...they're hare, thare, & every bloomin' whare...haha, sorry.
I'll keep my eyes open if I go to any garden centres. I saw a baby one that said it was life size on a website last night Lottie.
All the best for Mr woofy today.

Please put me out of my misery. Was it Easter that Jude was going away with her Sister and is she back? Neti has welcomed her back, but I can't see her. Have I lost the plot. Talk to me somebody.
I have been naughty. I sent back the dress to M &C because I decided that I would only wear a dress once and therefore it was indulgent to buy it. It was nice though. However................................. I have now been into M & C in town and bought a top and lightweight jacket/cardi, which do look very nice and will be more useful.
I also bought 2 shirts for Master LL for his birthday, although I have already sorted his present out and then felt guilty about Mister LL and bought him a shirt too.
Also 2 M & S T shirts and a lightweight summer cardi from BHS arrived for me this morning (elbow length sleeves edge to edge, long with pockets in cotton/acrylic.
No more shopping.!!
Woofy, I have bought Magnesium and Z|inc tablets separately which I shall take alongside my prescription calcium and I will be a new woman - some hopes!! Glad Mr Woof is fine, even though it's a nuisance that he has to have his thingy altered.
Shaney, I shall have a good look round that site, it looks lovely.
Off now to hoover lounge and then collapse for an hour!!

HI ALL MY BIDDYFRIENDS.....I have just finished reading all your posts. It has taken me 1½ hours to read it all and make a few notes. So now I haven't time to write and mention them all. Got my Laptop back today after (a whole week with withdrawal symptons or what!!)
Instead of going into a long long diatribe I want to say I'm so sorry for all of your problems. All of you have had something go wrong, really troublesome things and I'm so sorry I wasn't here to give you my support at the time but I'm sure you all know I would have done had I been here. Your problems make mine insignificant in comparision but I'll give you a smile. My new GHg neighbour asked me to trim a bush in my front garden ( it's all of 3ft high and goes on to her patch by about 6 inches) so I got my electric trimmers out and started just to cut the 6 inch side (that was all) then all of a sudden they stopped and guess what I had done - yes that's right - I had sliced the cable in two. so it is now the trimming isn't finished - Oh dear me! ;~)
My lap top had a 'dicky' cable and cost me £50 to put a new one in which I thought was reasonable so instead of a new lap top I paid up. I had to wait for the cable to come and then there was Easter in the beginning so they weren't open.
I am now really hungry so I'm off for a bit.
See yer later 'gater(s)
P>S> I feel I could write reams but I'm not going to...just pleased to be back - missed you all xxxxxxxx

Hi Neti and everyone - just nipped back to apologise if you got some repeated emails. I kept getting the 'unable to deliver email from them but apparently it did get delivered. I also keep getting a letter form Yahoo about an upgrade - has anybody seen it and if so have you done anything about it yet. Thanks.
