After 50 years of having a clean license, I'm pretty sure yesterday I've been done, coming out of a 40mph to a 30mph I was still doing about 34/35 when I saw the police camera van on side of road. Had not been in the car long after a walk and was a bit hot and bothered. DAM! :( Now got to wait and see. This will hurt if so!!

Well, as long as you're sure Rockrose, that's good enough for any court in the land.
To the cells with them!
Rockrose, she hasn’t said she’s never exceeded the speed limit before. She said she may have. Bet you have too at some time. I know I have slipped up occasionally.
Not the worst offence committed in driving for a couple or three over the limit wheras driving without insurance? No contest.
I certainly have over the years but never intentionally.
Oh dear retro we are not talking about me though are we - just cannot resist can you - you are a very small mean minded little man!
Naomi, she seems to contradict herself
// never had an accident or been involved in one, and always kept within the speed limit, now I know that's hard to believe, but true. //
What on earth are you on about?
But you are correct. It is nothing about you! Paranoia or what?

Just for Rockrose then, I've always tried to keep within the speed limit. I will let you all know the outcome of my terrible crime :) should be here by about the 7th Aug.
Thoughts and prayers, Teacake. I doubt you'll do time though, don't worry too much, very few of us are perfect.
I get speeding fines more or less on a monthly basis, particularly when I drive into Switzerland.
Other than driving unsafely with my eyes near constantly on the speedometer, I don't know how to avoid them.
teacake, sorry to put a damper on this but seems where you live affects what happens. I was caught a few years ago, 45 in forty, and went on the speed awareness course. The first thing we had to do was tell everybody what speed we were doing. One lad said 31 in 30, nobody believed him, including the instructor, but he produced the paperwork to prove it. In some areas the police will allow a little leeway, we certainly weren't.

What you say is fact. I meet colleagues from Thames Valley Police and they will verify some forces have a zero tolerance policy.
My wife was caught doing a couple of miles over a 30 limit coming out the village of Sopley just into Hants territory. The road between Christchurch and Ringwood is a nightmare and similare to that described by Teacake with constantly changing limits from 30 to 50 mph. Knowing that camera cars operate in farm entrances etc it is a trial to keep one eye on the speedo and the other on the ever changing road conditions.

Vulcan 42. Getting done for 31 in a 30 is a bit below the belt, very much so. I'm all for safe driving, and always have been, a road accident can kill so easy, or destroy the rest of your life either way, but to be sneaky with 1 mph is never going to get their local force support from the public in other matters.
don't try and reason with rockrose mate, you can't reason with an eejit.
These marginal speeding fines are a fact of modern life, nothing at all to do with road safety, simply a easy method of raising revenue from already over-taxed & beleaguered motorists.
Just sigh, & pay up.
Can you get done for doing 31 in a 30?. Thought it had to be 10% over? I could be completely wrong lol. I’ve never had a ticket so don’t really know the rules.
We all know it’s a way of extorting money from an easy target. Fish in a barrel. The camera guys sleep well at night and don’t care a fig about your finances or emotional distress. They have right on their side and they have an army. Yes, you are being exploited and plundered. But, you have the option of driving slower, as a matter of course. Tailgaters will intimidate you, lights and horns will pressure you, and road rage could be yours to experience at any unexpected time.
What to do? Get a bus? Impractical. Walk? Unable.
Just do your best to be a good citizen and do as your ordered. The road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
50 years driving, never been done for speeding, yet...
Do an Onasanya.
