Avast Blocking My External Hard Drive

My Avast demanded to be updated yesterday, so I did. Now when I plug my external hard drive in (a little Maxell portable) nothing comes up and I can't back things up. I assume these two events are connected as there was no trouble till today.

Is there any way to tell Avast to permit it? Or of restoring the earlier Avast? (Though I assume the latter would be risky.)

(Please don't advise installing MSE instead as I had the same trouble with it in the past; that's why I installed Avast in the first place.)

Yes, the Spanish police seem to be on the ball.How awful that he killed the poor man whose car he stole.I really don't understand the mentality of these evil people.

Hello. The dogs have been weather worried since 6am and I have had sick internet all day. Its been a long day.

had a nice Turkish lunch today with some old friends. One of them's just bought his local pub as part of a consortium, the other's husband had a hdeart attack in Thailand and he head to get him to a hospital (he's okay now). I should probably be glad I lead a quiet life.

Evening all. Hi woofy glad you are ok if a bit annoyed!! We met up with some young relatives who are staying on the other side of the island (£1.500 each for a week!!) More money than sense. Then Mt N had a lamb biriani and a chicken curry and went for a drink. I feel better so washed the cushion covers and took ages removing the chrome/silver nail polish and washed my hair. Then I just lazed as theres not much else to
do in this heat!!

Í went to see a friend too today, with my brother .The bionic woman who was my SiL's friend .We still pop round round to see her for a cuppa and a chat .She's a nice lady and as she doesn't get out much she's always pleased to see us.
It's been another lovely day here ,warm and mainly sunny but a bit humid .Should be some fresher air coming across tonight. Nothing else going on ,pretty quiet here really.Hope you're all ok.

Stinking hot but Ibwent out for coffee and had a laugh. Bought a 32gb sd card for phone so should have loads of memory now, and bunches of small artificial yellow flowers for pots around the pool. Look ok.

Evening all
Another nice day ,warm and sunny and looks the same for the next few days.All I buy for my phone is a five quid top up about twice a year .I hardly use it.I probably spend more money on the leccy to keep the battery going.
Nothing doing here .I mooched about dans le jardin with my snippers and sat out and read a book for a bit.I just watched Top of the Lake .It's very weird but compulsive viewing for some reason.

Cat was a nuisance all night shouting and yelling for no good reason that we could see. Ive got big swollen bites, hate it but defo not fleas. Think its the new type of mossie very painful and a lot of ppl are moaning. Eveny anti mossie machine is useless.

Hello all
Another lovely day,warm and sunny .Hope it lasts for a while yet.
I've seen the first series a while back Neti and it was very good but this one seems a bit strange .Plot holes as big as potholes.
But it's compulsive viewing nevertheless. I just want the ghastly pimp of a boyfriend to get his comeuppance.It's the last one next week.
Actually I think it's all on BBC IPlayer if you can get that.I might watch the last one on there and get it over with.
Just had some edging stones, huge bag of gravel and weed membrane delivered. I've decided to gravel parts of the garden over at the back and down the side of the house and put stuff in pots on the gravel. Less work !
