Locks For Writing Slopes?
I have bought a rather nice writing slope on ebay, however the lock doesn't work at all. Its quite easy to remove though and in fact I suspect that its not the original one anyway. I've hunted around but the only supplier of replacements I could find is in america and the p and p is huge.
Does anyone know of a UK supplier of writing slope (wooden box) locks please? Either new or old but they must work and come with a key.

I have had a very healthy turkey, pot, cabbage, onion, yam and carrot chuncky soup. It was a tad bland to my mind so I added a drop of soy sauce, curry powder and coriander, that made it better. Mr N loves this type of food, I do not. I love the crusty bread and butter.
Hes been banished to the bedroom in the cold, and I have the front room, the lounge, the salon in which to watch Luther yay!

Wooh ..that was scary.Alice isn't in the cast list so that's a mystery. He doesn't seem to think it's her in the drink so perhaps she'll pop up at the very last minute.
Bit of a huge storyline line for just a two parter though.
Oh that's a nuisance with the crown Jno.At least you can get it fixed pdq.
There is a walk in centre in town ,I went there once before with that awful burn but I'd rather go the surgery as they know the story of my leg. It's only another couple of days.I don't think my leg will have dropped off by then .

Good morning I haven't seen Luther yet, it clashed with ·Back in time for Xmas" which i had to see as I can't record that later. Am downloading Luther now.
We have a medical card (size of a credit card) which any doctor can scan and see our history and it holds our prescriptions too so once a month I pop to the chemists and they scan the card and know what I need.
am still in bed, will get up soon ish.

Morning...same ole weather, I don't mind the mild bit but the constant rain is ridiculous.
I've never watched Luther. I watched Back in Time for Christmas the past two nights.... Christmas 1940s - 1990s... not always accurate for my life but it was enjoyable.
I'm sure there's something I need to go to the shops for....but what?

I enjoyed it too but we always had turkey and a real tree even in the 40s. Dad did make us lots of wooden toys too. Always crackers too. Only started with artificial trees since.living here as they weren't available for years and they are very expensive. When I came in 1971 they didn't celebrate Xmas. No decs or cards. I made my own. Mum used a pine branch as a tree. The locals would eat shellfish and meat on Xmas eve and a quiet day for Xmas. The big huge celebration was NYE and the Kings That really is big even now.
Hello all
Very mild here too .14C.Most unseasonable indeed.Dull and dreary though.
I caught up with Back in time for Christmas.Really good .I liked the first series they made. They're a lovely family and really get into the swing of it and I love the houses they put them in. It wasn't like that for me either.
I remember the lovely dolls house my dad made me and we used to have a capon and Mum made a Christmas cake and all the other stuff, mince pies ,pud etc.
It's officially Christmas here ,tree and decs up although I've dinged a lot of tat and pared it down drastically.

Morning all...has the red mist descended? We're supposed to be covered in dust today aren't we? I won't look any different, I'm going rusty anyway.
I thought the Back in Time mum seemed a bit dozy in the kitchen, the way she was faffing with that frozen turkey was silly. Has a woman of her age never handled a frozen bird before? lol. I hope the food they ate wasn't the food she was supposed to have cooked :)
We usually had a capon and a 'nice piece of pork' for dinner and ham for tea.
Ooooh, so many stormtroopers. Good thing it isn't a crowd of Darth Vaders, he gives me the heebie jeebies.

good morning all. Bit of a funny night here, we were all restless and didn’t know why....nice builder man was slinging chunks of garage floor around earlier but is quiet now. I don’t like the texture of tongue but the dogs love it. I use to buy them slices of it but its got quite expensive. Did you Mum used to cool it in the shape of an arch and dress it Neti? Ruth Mott did it in the Victorian Kitchen programme. We used to have a capon for christmas day, it was cheaper than turkey then. Mum would cook it with a ham and then we’d have cold for the next few days and then a stew which for me was the best bit. My Dad was paid weekly as were most of the people we knew, so when he got his final paypacket with the christmas bonus, Mum would rush out and shop shop shop and Dad would go out and buy the tree and go to the off licence....no booze in grocery shops then. Going with Dad to buy the tree was a sign that you were growing up because he had to walk home with it which was about 15 minutes. We had no car and even if it had been allowed on a bus, there were no busses between us and the local market. Dad couldn’t carry a child AND the tree so we had to be able to walk all the way home before he would take us. I have still got some of our tree ornaments from my childhood. I get them out and use them because the old glass baubles can spontaneously break while being stored so there is no point trying to preserve them.
Does anyone know if trees are still dipped to make them less likely to catch fire or drop needles? I had forgotten that until I saw it on BITFC. I don’t remember the non needle drop ever working too well.

Dress the tongue woofy? With 6 kids at the time and all the rellies and a 15 bedroom house she hardly had time to dress herself. I only remember seeing slices of it and I wouldn't touch it. We didn't have a car either and we also had to walk mulls with dad and the tree, but it was all part of Christmas. Yes the baubles in those days were glass and so pretty. The tree lights had such big coloured bulbs in this days and dad would unscrew them one by one to find a faulty one. On Xmas morning after breakfast when we were all washed and dressed we would line up in our ages at the lounge door and dad would open it and I'd get knocked down in the rush from the big ones at the back. Our pillowcases were not where we had left them. I'd rush to what I thought was mine and find a catapult or train and my Bro would find a doll. Such good times then.
At 5pm we'd have tea and Xmas cake and then have the presents from the tree.
