"/// Maybe I'm "lucky" to be
white ///
Oh dear, is he suggesting that he would have been unlucky to be born Black? "
I'm suggesting that maybe being born in a country when you have certain physical characteristics put you in a minority that historically, and even currently to an extent, suffers from implicit and explicit discrimination could be a bit "unlucky", yes -- and, equally, the converse might make one lucky-ish. Not sure how you think it would be shocking to "twist" my words to say almost exactly what I was implying. But note the "may" and "could" in the above; I was speculating.
At any rate I am not "proud" to be white. I don't see why anyone should be proud of such things. Nor should they be ashamed, either.
